Cotton vs polyester merch — UAE corporate

Cotton vs polyester for UAE corporate merch: OEKO-TEX 100, GRS recycled polyester, Atlas 180 vs Atlas Recycled, hotel-labor durability, sustainability programme fit.

Cotton vs polyester at a glance

Cotton is the natural-fibre default for UAE corporate apparel. Polyester (especially GRS-recycled polyester) is the technical-fibre default for UAE corporate merch. Both fabrics serve the workplace (40–60°C industrial laundering, daily wear, OEKO-TEX 100 class II certification). Cotton is more breathable and softer against the skin; polyester is more durable and faster-drying. We've delivered both fabrics for all major UAE corporate programmes.

The Atlas 180 cotton tee

The Atlas 180 is the combed ring-spun cotton t-shirt — 180 gsm, side-seamed, taped neck and shoulders, double-needle sleeves and hem. Holds shape past 50 wash cycles at 40°C. Breathable, soft against the skin, OEKO-TEX 100 class II certified. AED 22 at 100 units, AED 17 at 500. The cotton fabric is sourced from Egyptian cotton co-operatives with the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) credit.

The Atlas Recycled recycled-polyester tee

The Atlas Recycled is the GRS-certified recycled-polyester t-shirt — 60% recycled cotton / 40% recycled polyester, 200 gsm, side-seamed. Holds shape past 50 wash cycles at 40°C. The recycled-polyester fabric dries in 40 minutes at ambient — half the time of a pure-cotton tee. The Atlas Recycled ships with the GRS recycled-content credit on the swing tag and the per-shirt CO₂e figure for ESG reporting.

The hotel-labor durability

Both fabrics pass the Jumeirah and Marriott hotel-labor test for >50 industrial wash cycles at 60°C. The Atlas 180 cotton tee is the soft-hand choice for the front-of-house roles. The Atlas Recycled recycled-polyester tee is the durable choice for the back-of-house roles and the field-crew programmes. Both fabrics are OEKO-TEX 100 class II certified.

The sustainability programme fit

The Atlas 180 cotton tee is the OEKO-TEX 100 default. The Atlas Recycled recycled-polyester tee is the GRS-certification default. The sustainability programme at the ADNOC, Aldar, Emaar, ENBD, FAB, Mashreq and ADCB programmes requires the per-shirt CO₂e disclosure and the GRS recycled-content credit. The Atlas Recycled runs about 4.2 kg CO₂e per shirt against 7.8 kg for the Atlas 180.

UAE context — what drives the demand

The Atlas 180 cotton tee is the dominant SKU for the ENBD branch-officer programme, the ADNOC site-uniform programme, and the Emaar sales-team programme. The Atlas Recycled recycled-polyester tee is the dominant SKU for the Aldar sustainability programme, the Masdar sustainability programme, and the broader ESG-aligned programmes. We hold buffer stock of both fabrics at our Jebel Ali warehouse year-round for the ENBD and ADNOC programmes.
