Why a candle fits the Cypriot Christmas gift tier

Cypriot winter evenings are short and indoor-heavy — by 17:30 in late December it's dark in Nicosia, and the working-from-home cohort lights a candle on the desk or in the living room. A branded candle is a different category from a mug or notebook because it gets used in front of visitors, not just the recipient: the gift has repeat visibility, which is exactly what a year-end client thank-you is buying. Limassol FX houses and family offices typically gift 100–250 candles across their top-client list in early December.

Models and materials that fit

Default SKU is a 180ml amber glass jar candle, 100% soy wax, cotton wick, 35-hour burn time, scented in pine + cedar (Cyprus-inspired winter resin) or cinnamon + orange peel — €8.50 per unit at 100, foil-stamped kraft label with a single hot-foil brand mark. Premium is a 240ml ribbed amber jar with a bamboo lid, double-wick, 50-hour burn, in the same scent profile plus a fig-and-vanilla Cypriot house scent — €13 per unit at 50. Luxury tier is a 500ml hand-blown clear glass with a wooden wick, custom scent blended by our perfumer partner in Paphos, €28 per unit at 20.

Prints and branding approaches

Kraft paper label, full-wrap or front-only, hot-foil stamp (gold, copper, or matte black). We do not print full-colour on candle labels because the wax softens the ink at the warm side of the jar and the colour drifts. Foil-stamped initials or a small brand mark on the lid (bamboo or wooden) is the premium-tier move and adds €1.20 per unit. For the luxury tier we engrave the glass directly with a 30W fibre laser at €3 per unit.

Bundling and packaging

Standard: kraft sleeve with hot-foil "Merry Christmas" stamp, €0.80 per pack. Premium: black box with red ribbon, candle set inside with a printed matchbook and a small vial of dried orange slices — €3.40 per pack. Luxury: hand-wrapped in unbleached linen with a wax seal, packed in a wooden box with a brass hinge, €9.50 per pack. The matchbook is a quiet touch but it carries the brand mark every time the recipient lights the candle.

Runs, lead times, and budgets

MOQ 30 across all tiers. Lead time is 14 business days for the standard tier (label print + wax pour + cure), 21 days for premium (custom jar sourcing), 28 days for luxury (custom scent blend). Last order date is 28 November for December delivery. EUR pricing returns within one Cyprus business day; sample candle ships in 48 hours.

Cyprus context

Cyprus has a small but real perfumery scene — particularly around Paphos and the Akamas region — and we work with one local chandler who blends the fig-and-vanilla house scent for the premium tier. Glass jars are sourced from a Limassol packaging supplier on a 7-day lead, which keeps the standard tier on schedule through the December peak. Most Limassol firms order between 5 October and 10 November for the December window; after that we move to the Orthodox January slot.

Frequently asked questions

Can the candle be made with a custom scent?

Yes for runs above 100 — our perfumer partner in Paphos will blend a custom scent against your brief (typically 2–3 weeks and €450 one-time setup fee). Below 100 we work from our stock scents: pine + cedar, cinnamon + orange, fig + vanilla, fig + bergamot, cypress + myrtle. The fig + bergamot is the most popular for Cypriot gifting.

Is soy wax safe for corporate gifting in the EU?

Yes — all our candles use 100% soy wax, cotton or wooden wicks, and phthalate-free fragrance oils. They meet REACH and CLP labelling requirements. Each candle ships with a CLP-compliant safety label (allergen disclosure) on the base; for client-facing gifts we can move the safety text to a hangtag instead of the jar to keep the front cleaner.

Can we add the recipient's name to the label?

Yes for runs of 50+ — variable-data label printing adds €0.60 per label. The recipient list must arrive by 15 November for December delivery. Hand-calligraphy on the kraft sleeve is an alternative at €2.40 per unit, MOQ 30.

What if the candle burns unevenly?

Cotton wicks need a 2-hour first burn to set the memory ring; wooden wicks need a 3-hour first burn. We include a printed care card with every candle explaining the first-burn rule. If a recipient reports uneven burning we replace the candle on receipt of a photo — €8.50 cost absorbed.

Can you ship a single candle to a UK address?

Yes — DHL Express, €45 flat to UK. Candles ship without customs declaration in the EU; UK imports require the standard £135 de-minimis check, all our candles fall under. Allow 48-hour delivery from Limassol.

Do you do vegan candles?

All our candles are vegan by default — soy wax, cotton or wooden wicks, no animal-derived fragrance oils. We hold a vegan certification audit trail from our wax supplier (EcoSoya) and can include the Vegan Society logo on the back label if requested at no extra cost.
