Why the UAE single-use plastic ban changed eco-bag specs in 2024
Dubai Municipality's single-use plastic ban (in force since 1 January 2024) requires every retail checkout in the emirate to charge AED 0.25 per single-use plastic bag and offer reusable alternatives. For Dubai Mall retailers, that means the eco-bag at the till is now part of the brand experience — the bag is photographed, photographed in an Instagram story, and lives in the buyer's life for 18 months. Three eco bags for three UAE ESG programmes
The Eco Cotton is the retail standard — 100% GRS-certified recycled cotton, 12 oz, 38 × 42 × 10 cm, 30 cm handles, screen print area 30 × 35 cm. AED 18 at 100 units, AED 14 at 500. The Eco rPET is the retail alternative — 100% recycled PET (GRS-certified), 38 × 42 × 10 cm, screen print area 30 × 35 cm. AED 22 at 100, AED 17 at 500. The Eco Jute is the museum and tourism tier — natural jute, 38 × 42 × 12 cm, drawcord closure, screen print area 32 × 38 cm. AED 28 at 100, AED 22 at 500.
Print method on eco substrates
Screen print is the default on Eco Cotton, Eco rPET and Eco Jute — one to three colours at AED 1.80 per print area, opaque and resistant to wear. Full-bleed digital print is for photographic artwork on the Eco Cotton at AED 4.50 per side. UV print on the Eco rPET is the dominant method for the sustainability programmes — the print sits flat on the rPET, no shine, GRS credit on the swing tag. For the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Alserkal Avenue member drops, full-bleed digital print on the Eco Cotton is the standard.
Packing for retail, events, and ESG rollouts
Retail-ready eco bags for the Dubai Mall ship in 50-piece carton packs, polybagged with a size sticker and a swing tag, ready for the till. Bulk ESG programme bags for Aldar and Emaar ship in 100-piece polybags inside a corrugated outer. GITEX exhibitor eco bags fold flat in 200-piece carton packs for venue distribution. Each eco bag carries the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 tag for fabric safety and the GRS recycled-content credit.

Standard MOQ is 100 units for all three SKUs. Screen-printed orders under 1,000 pieces ship in 8 working days; 1,000–5,000 in 10 days; runs above 5,000 in 12 days. Full-bleed digital print adds two working days. Pricing in AED, VAT 5% added on the FTA EmaraTax e-invoice. What certification is required for the Aldar ESG programme eco bag?
GRS (Global Recycled Standard) for the recycled-content credit. The Eco Cotton and Eco rPET are GRS-certified with the certification chain-of-custody from the recycling facility to the bag manufacturer. We include the GRS credit on the swing tag and on the inside-back of the bag.
Can the eco bag be full-bleed digital printed for a museum exhibition?
Yes. UV-stable digital print on the Eco Cotton, max print area 30 × 35 cm. Common for the Louvre Abu Dhabi member drops, the Alserkal Avenue residency programme, and the Sharjah Art Foundation. MOQ 100, lead time 10 working days for runs under 500.
Is the Eco Jute bag waterproof?
No. Jute is a natural fibre and is not waterproof. The Eco Cotton and Eco rPET are water-resistant at the seams but not fully waterproof. For a fully waterproof bag we offer the rPET Heavy with welded seams at AED 32 at 100 units, MOQ 100.
Can the eco bag carry the UAE Ban on Single-Use Plastic compliance language?
Yes. We print the UAE Ban on Single-Use Plastic compliance language and the GRS content percentage on the inside back of the bag at AED 1.20 per print additional. Common for the Aldar and Emaar ESG programmes.
Does the eco bag come in a flat-fold pack for tourism-board distribution at the cruise terminal?
Yes. The Eco Cotton ships in 100-piece flat-fold packs for fast distribution at the cruise terminal. The flat-fold reduces shipping volume by 70% versus the pre-folded sleeve. Common for the Department of Tourism and Culture cruise-season programmes.
Is the eco bag OEKO-TEX certified?
Yes. Standard OEKO-TEX 100 class II certification ships with every Eco Cotton order. The Eco rPET ships with class II plus GRS recycled-content credit. The Eco Jute ships with class I certification (direct-skin contact).
