Why a GITEX giveaway pen fails differently than a boardroom pen
A GITEX giveaway pen walks out of the venue at noon on day one and is dropped into a tote bag with three other pens. The print has to survive the next six months in a glove box at 55°C. A DIFC boardroom pen sits in an executive's drawer for two years between meetings and is photographed in board photos. The finish has to look the same in year three as on day one — engraving, not print. Three pens for three UAE roles
The Aspen Rollerball is the giveaway default — brass barrel with a lacquer finish, black or chrome trim, 0.7 mm rollerball refill, screen print area 35 × 8 mm. AED 5.50 at 100 units, AED 4.20 at 1,000. The Aspen Metal is the boardroom tier — full aluminium barrel, brushed or anodised finish, 0.7 mm ceramic rollerball refill, laser engraving area 40 × 8 mm. AED 18 at 100, AED 14 at 500. The Aspen Kraft is the sustainability option — recycled kraft paper barrel, black trim, 0.5 mm ballpoint refill. AED 4.20 at 100, AED 3.20 at 1,000.
Print method depends on the use
Pad print on the lacquered Aspen Rollerball holds a one-colour or two-colour logo at AED 0.50 per print, suitable for runs above 500. Laser engraving on the Aspen Metal reveals the brushed aluminium under the lacquer, holds past the lifetime of the pen, AED 1.20 per engraving. UV print on the Aspen Kraft is the dominant method for the sustainability programmes — the print sits on the kraft, no shine, FSC mix credit on the swing tag. For the GITEX exhibitor giveaway, the most economical is a single-colour pad print on the Aspen Rollerball.
Packing for retail, events and welcome kits
Bulk orders for GITEX and ADIPEC ship in 100-piece carton packs sized for standard UAE truck pallets. Retail-ready distribution to the Dubai Mall fold into a printed EPE cradle with a swing tag, at AED 1.50 per cradle premium. Welcome-pack pens for facilities kits at the Louvre Abu Dhabi or the tourism-board programme fold into a belly-band sleeve with a matching kraft envelope.
MOQ, lead times and AED pricing
Standard MOQ is 100 units for all three Aspen SKUs. Pad-printed orders under 1,000 pieces ship in 8 working days; 1,000–5,000 in 10 days; runs above 5,000 in 12 days. Laser engraving adds one working day for the artwork setup. Pricing in AED, VAT 5% added on the FTA EmaraTax e-invoice. Sample pen with logo printed ships in 3 working days; sample cost credited at 500+ unit orders.

GITEX Global in October and ADIPEC in November are the two largest single-week peaks, each taking 50,000+ pens. Banking branch rollouts (ENBD, FAB, Mashreq, ADCB) take 4,000 pieces per quarter. What finish survives six months in a 55°C car glove box?
The lacquered Aspen Rollerball with a one-colour pad print. The print is cured at 180°C for 30 seconds and is rated to 90°C ambient without softening. Avoid UV-printed finishes for the GITEX give-away; the UV ink softens at 70°C and the print smudges by week 4 in summer.
Can the pen be engraved on the clip as well as the barrel?
Yes. Laser engraving on the Aspen Metal clip at AED 1.20 per engraving; combined with a barrel engraving at AED 1.20, total is AED 2.40 per pen. Common for the DIFC boardroom pens and the Mashreq VIP partner kits.
Is the Aspen Kraft pen FSC certified?
Yes. The kraft barrel is FSC mix credit and the metal clip is recycled aluminium. The swing tag carries the FSC mark. The Aldar and Emaar ESG programmes require this certification.
Can the pen be personalised with the recipient's name?
Yes. Laser engraving of the name on the Aspen Metal barrel at AED 1.50 per unit additional. We can run per-pen data sets for VIP partner kits, sales agent programmes and membership renewal gifts.
What refill is included and can it be swapped?
The Aspen Rollerball ships with a Parker-style 0.7 mm black refill; the Aspen Metal with a ceramic 0.7 mm refill. Both can be swapped to blue or red at no extra cost. Replacement refills are stocked at our Jebel Ali warehouse.
Can the pen be bundled with a matching notebook for a welcome pack?
Yes. The Bristol A5 notebook + Aspen Metal pen is a standard welcome-pack kit at AED 38 per kit, MOQ 50. We assemble, ship and pre-pack in 12-piece carton packs. The DIFC and ENBD graduate-intake kits are 80 pieces of this kit per quarter.
